Celebrating a recent promotion to the post of Parts Sales Manager is Andy Harley from Wednesfield. Andy has been with Greenhous Commercials since 1990 when he started on the first rung of the ladder as a YTS in the warehouse at the Willenhall Greenhous dealership.

Andy fondly recalls being awarded £250 as the quickest YTS to be granted full employment after just 6 weeks on the scheme. He qualified with a B Tech in Stock and Warehousing.  It was no surprise when he was given training to become a tele-sales person. At that time Greenhous dealt with Bedford vehicles.

The opportunity to get into sales started with Andy taking on the Birmingham area as a parts sales van driver.  This was just 3 years after starting as a YTS. One day a week he was charged with seeking out and retaining his own customers, managing their parts requirements.  Whilst doing this, he won an award for being Van Parts Salesman within the DAF network.  In 2002 the position of parts sales executive became available at Greenhous DAF in Shrewsbury and Andy had always wanted to be in sales, so he took it.

Andy says he always looked up to the managers above him as he worked his way up the ladder.  He respected their views and support and he now feels privileged to have ascended to the ranks of management.

A married man with a son and a daughter, Andy finds time to follow his passion for ‘techy stuff’ as well as being involved with backstage organisation for theatre performances at St Giles Church in Willenhall, at which his son, Jamie is the lighting specialist. A busy social life includes playing Golf, being a Darts team captain and a member of a poker league. Andy says he likes to keep busy and enjoys helping organise outside events for Greenhous DAF.

Andy has recently won an award from DAF after being nominated for ‘Make a Difference’ by colleagues at Greenhous Shrewsbury.
