Wynnstay were established back in 1918 in the Llansantffraid area of Powys and have evolved into a multi-faceted supplier of products and services to the agricultural industry across the UK.Wynnstay support the rural economy through complimentary joint ventures and associate companies.
The DAF/Wynnstay relationship goes back decades and the company have just taken ownership of three of the latest DAF CF 480 FAS 6X2 space cab 12 speed T raxion auto gearboxes, with a Cartwright 27ft curtain side and 23ft curtain side trailer with an air operated VBG Coupling from Greenhous Commercials based in Shrewsbury.
Phil Jones is the Wynnstay National Transport & Compliance Manager and he commented on the size of the fleet operated by the company across the UK saying: “We operate 106 HGV’s, 45 vans & 165 company cars. This is split over our network including our Mills & Stores. These trucks operate on a mixture of the business needs from store deliveries to animal feed direct to the farms. We operate 14 DAF vehicles with a further 3 on order.
“We maintain our own fleet and we operate our own workshops from 06:00 – 18:30.We deal with Greenhous for new vehicles, parts and warranty issues.Our historic relationship with Greenhous has been excellent.We selected our new DAF trucks on factors such as cost, reliability and driver comfort. Our drivers have taken well to the new vehicles and are impressed by their performance and cab comfort.
“Wynnstay owns 65 county stores spread from Kendal in the Lake District to Helston in Cornwall, Aberystwyth in Wales to Thame in Oxfordshire.Our core business is to supply the farming community wherever it may be.”

The Wynnstay Feed Division operates two compound feed mills and one blending plant, offering a full range of animal nutrition products to the agricultural market. The location of the mills allows for logistically efficient delivery of products throughout their trading area. Wynnstay also have third party mills to satisfy additional seasonal and geographic requirements. The company has invested heavily at the two compound mills with further expansion of production in both bulk and bagged materials.
The three DAF CF’s with Tri-axle trailers were immediately put into operation following delivery at the Llansantffraid depot.
