Do you go running on a regular basis?Have you any idea how far you run in a year?It could amount to a considerable total. Well Adam Craig, from Cross Houses near Shrewsbury, has set himself a target of running 700 Km in 2020 and in the process raise funds for the Severn Hospice, a charity close to his heart.
Adam is the Commercial Parts Purchaser for Greenhous Commercials based in Willenhall and he has been with the company for over 24 years in two spells at Willenhall in Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury. Running has become something of a passion for Adam over the past 3 to 4 years and sadly in January 2019 his mother passed away from pancreatic cancer. She spent the final part of her life in the care of the wonderful Severn Hospice staff in Telford.
Seeking to praise the staff of Severn Hospice, Adam explains: “Mum was only with Severn Hospice for a short time but the staff there were fantastic, so caring for Mum and the family. We really felt looked after. I am looking to raise funds for them and raise awareness of the amazing work they do to support the terminally ill and their families at a very difficult time.”
Taking part in organised runs has been a focal point in Adam’s planning for 2020 and he has already started to sign up for a number across Mid Wales, Shropshire and the West Midlands. On his list are 10Km runs in Shrewsbury, Whitcurch, Telford, Birmingham, Barmouth, Tenby, Cosford, Wem and Oswestry with half marathons in Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and Lake Vyrnwy also on the list.
Adam has picked places which hold special memories for the family, for example family holidays in Tenby and Barmouth. He has enlisted the help of his 4 year old son Jacob for the race at Cosford.Jacob will be entering the children’s race before Dad’s event, so Adam is looking forward to running with his son as part of his warm up for the main event.
Why 700 Km? Adam says his Mum would have been 70 in 2020 and he hopes to raise £700 for the Severn Hospice. If you would like to contribute to his fund-raising visit his Just Giving page at the link https://www.justgiving.com/adam-craig21
